Pedemoura

0-6-0 Well Tank Locomotive

Pedemoura was built by Orenstein and Koppel in Berlin in 1924 for Minas de Pejao coal mines, Pedorido, Portugal.

Pedemoura was built to a standard O & K design, widely used on narrow-gauge secondary line duties across Europe.

Pedemoura was imported by Pleasurerail in Knebworth in 1972. It was acquired in 1975 as a result of a straight swap for a 2' 6" gauge Fowler Diesel locomotive. Since then, it has been moved to Dolgellau, Mold, Beddgelert, and thence to Porthmadog, where it was stored out-of-use.

Pedemoura patiently awaited restoration, but being in need of a new boiler unfortunately delayed its rebuilding for several years. Progress ground to a halt, with many other pressing priorities drawing the attention of the loco department.

In early 2005, therefore, Pedemoura was sold to the Leighton Buzzard Railway, and left Porthmadog.
